Over the next four years, Elk Grove Unified School District will be engaged in an exciting collaboration with American Institutes for Research as part of the Algebra Readiness Project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Educational Sciences. Together, EGUSD and AIR are collecting and analyzing data to examine the educational benefits of enrolling in an advanced math course sequence beginning in eighth grade.
On May 11th, 2016 during Advocacy, seventh grade students will be asked to complete a brief survey. The survey will include common questions about students’ social and emotional skills, perseverance in the face of difficulty, and their opinions about mathematics.
Please read the attached letter and complete the form if you DO NOT wish to have your child participate in the Social Emotional Learning Student Survey. Completed forms should be turned in to Kim Wallace in the Toby Johnson Administration Office by May 4th, 2016.
Promoting 8th graders will receive promotion tickets for admission to the ceremony. These tickets will be distributed after promotion practice on Tuesday, May 24th. If the promoting eighth grader has overdue books then they will not receive their tickets until their account is current. Due to the large size of each of our promoting classes and the maximum capacity in the gym, each student will be given 4 tickets. This is the maximum number of tickets we can hand out so there will be no extra tickets available for pick up on the day of promotion, no exceptions.
Attached you will find a letter reminding you of the 20 day No Activities Policy. It is important you review the information with your students as it pertains to all 8th grade promotion activities.
