Tryouts for the Franklin Frosh summer basketball team will be held Tuesday, May 31st from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the Franklin High School main gym.

The summer basketball season will consist of the full month of June and include practices and a few competitive tournaments.

For more information, please contact Coach Manfredi via email at

The Junior Wildcats Basketball Skills Camp, held at Franklin High School, is open to boys entering 3rd-8th grade in the 2016-17 school year, and will be divided into two age divisions to maximize learning.

The focus of the camp will be teaching basketball fundamentals in an enthusiastic and fun environment.  Led by Franklin High School’s Varsity Boys’ Basketball Head Coach, Ken Manfredi, campers will receive both individual and group instruction from the coaching staff and its players.  Skill instruction will include dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, rebounding, and defense.

Campers will also be introduced to the three core values of the Franklin basketball program: Attitude, Effort, and Skill. Through instructional stations, guest speakers, and competitions, this camp will help develop each participant’s skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.

The camp begins Wednesday, June 1st and will continue June 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 at the Franklin High School gymnasium.

Participants will receive 9 skill sessions with 18 hours of instruction and a reversible Junior Wildcats jersey.  Sign up before May 20 to receive the early bird registration fee of $150.

8th Grade Parents,

Toby Johnson is excited for the 8th grade promotion ceremonies, scheduled for Wednesday, May 25 with the Aggies promoting at 8:30 a.m.; the Hornets at 10:30 a.m.; and the Tigers at 1:00 p.m.

Parking will be a challenge and so we have asked our faculty/staff to park in the library parking lot or on our basketball courts.  This will free up all the available parking spots for our families.  Please feel free to park in the main office parking lot or the staff parking lot in the front of the multi-purpose room, as well as the spots along Franklin High Drive.

We will be checking tickets at the GATE to the school and only those guests with a ticket will be admitted onto the campus.  Each eligible 8th grade student will receive four (4) tickets at the close of promotion practice tomorrow. Don’t forget all textbooks/fines must be paid by Tuesday, May 24 by 12:00 p.m. or the promotion tickets will be withheld.  I am looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday for a day of celebration.

Our students have worked hard the past two years and we all have much to be proud of.

Thank you!

Patrick McDougall, Principal

Toby Johnson Middle School

Leadership is a class that only 8th graders can take. We plan all the Dances, Friday Games, Spirt Days, and Unity Days. It is very fun and we get to learn how to become leaders of Toby. Also, we get to be taught by our wonderful activities director, Mrs. Rosso. Here is what some of the students have to say about this elective.

Question: What does leadership mean to you?

"Helping our school and community and becoming well-rounded students."

Belin B.

"Being a role model for people who don't have one"

Sam B.

"Being a ear to listen to any one that needs to talk and learning how to organize and plan activities."

Jemmie Q.

"Learning how to do what's best for the team and not just one person and having integrity"

Jordan B.
