School News
Battle of the Books: We will be meeting today in the community room during both lunches. Please bring your lunch and be prepared to discuss Turnabout. [3/15]
This week is our Spring Spirit Week. Dress up and join in the fun. Come out and join in the lunch games all week long. [3/15]
Toby’s Got Talent try outs are this Thursday, March 18th during your lunch. You must have a Karaoke CD to try out to sing. You are not allowed to sing along with the original artist at try outs. You must bring a CD for try outs. Please report to MC 6 at the beginning of lunch. You may bring your lunch to try outs. [3/15]
Attention Jaguars, this Wednesday, March 17th at 8:15 in MF 8 is the next regular Royal J meeting. Come to check your files, submit petitions, ask questions, and to pick up forms. Also, at this meeting, you can sign up to volunteer at the Royal J Ceremony on March 25th to earn school service hours. Remember you need to attend at least two meetings per term to stay eligible. Attention 7th Graders!!! If you are interested in taking AVID as an elective class next year, come to MJ 7 (Mrs. Welch-Daniels room) on Wednesday, March 17th, at 8:30 am. There will be an informational meeting and applications will be handed out. If you can't make the 8:30 am meeting, come by MJ 7 during 7th grade lunch on March 17th and you can learn about AVID and pick up an application. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a national program, so if you are interested in becoming a better student, I will see you there!!! [3/15 - 3/17]
Renaissance sign ups are this week. Check the lists posted in the student store window and your Humanities classes to see if you qualified. You must sign up and get your Renaissance sticker to attend the Renaissance barbecue. The deadline to sign up is this Friday March 19th. Sign up in the student store during lunch. [3/15 - 3/17]
Elk Grove Teen Idol 2010 Vocal Auditions are here! Register now! 916-686-6942. Each year, the Elk Grove Teen Center is host to "Elk Grove Teen Idol". You have two more chances to audition on Friday, March 19th at Elk Grove High School or at Franklin Friday, March 26th. Our auditions are open to singers and vocal groups ages 12-18 in Elk Grove and surrounding areas. This is a great opportunity to show off your talent, build self-esteem and explore the performing arts. Our Semi-finals and Finals are scheduled in April with a grand prize of $1000.00! Cash prizes also for 2nd and 3rd place finalists. Don't miss this chance to sing your best and win! Cafeteria News: Attention students! How would you like to win a pizza party for yourself and 7 of your friends? Food Nutrition Services is having a comic strip contest and one student from Toby Johnson Middle School will win. Check out the poster in the cafeteria for information on how to enter. The deadline to submit your entry is April 9th.

Attention 8th grade students! If you missed the Franklin High School cheerleading parent meeting on March 10th you may pick up the informational packet from Mrs. Phillips in the Administration office. If you are seriously interested don’t delay because the packet has IMPORTANT paperwork with strict deadlines that you will need to meet in order to tryout in April. [3/15 – 3/26]
Fusion Dance Company will be having auditions for next year’s company. If you are in 8th grade and are interested in auditioning, meet at the Franklin HS gym, Saturday March 20th. Auditions will be held from 9 am-4 pm. [3/15 – 3/19]
