Royal J Orientation Meeting Announcement:

Good Morning Jaguars!

I have some questions for you to think about . . .

Are you an athlete, are you in the Band class before school, do you like to help teachers in their classrooms, are you concerned about the community and wish you could help it in some way, do you maintain high grades in school, do you want to join a club? Many of you probably answered “yes” to many of these questions.

So, I am here to tell you a little bit about the Royal J Honor Society!  The Royal J is the highest honor you can achieve here at Toby Johnson Middle School. You can earn the highest honor just by being you!  If you answered “yes” to many of the questions I just asked, then you’re already on your way to become a Royal J member—all you have to do is fill in some paper work and document your personal successes and our school will recognize your achievements in an exclusive ceremony that is held only twice per year.

To achieve the Royal J, students will be required to attend meetings (at least one a term), maintain a 3.0 GPA, and complete 16 hours in six of eight areas of your choice which include school service, class achievement, the arts, athletics, scholastic achievement, leadership, club participation, and community service. All Royal J recipients, once they have completed the requirements, will be honored in a formal ceremony where your friends and family come and celebrate your accomplishments (and hear all about how awesome you are!)

If you’re interested in getting more information about Royal J, come to the orientation meeting next Wednesday, September 3rd, at 8:00 in MG6 with Ms. Emison.  In order to join Royal J, you must first attend an orientation meeting.   Orientation meetings are held only once per term.

One last VERY IMPORTANT thing: If you are an 8th grader, this is the final opportunity you have to join Royal J! You must attend this orientation meeting if you want to join Royal J as an 8th grader.  [8/29]

Regular Royal J Meeting ANNOUNCEMENT:

Attention current Royal J members: the next regular Royal J meeting will be held next Wednesday, September 3 in room MH8 with Mrs. Rashid at 8:00 am.  Come pick up forms, ask questions, submit petitions, and check your files.  Remember, Royal J Members MUST attend and sign in at least one meeting per term in order to stay eligible for obtaining their Royal J Awards. [8/29]

7th graders - Want to improve your organization, reading, writing and questioning skills?  Do you have a desire to attend college immediately out of high school?  Do you have average to above average grades? Then AVID 7 might be for you.  AVID 7 applications are now being accepted pick up an application in student services, in room MJ 7 or on school loop.  Please see Mrs. Wallace Ussery in MJ 7 for questions. [8/29]
