School News

The student store will be closed on Tuesday, January 6th and will be open on Wednesday, January 7th.  Please make other arrangements for snacks.  [1/6]

Congratulations to the following students who completed the requirements to be inducted into the Royal J Society and were awarded with their Royal J pin at the Winter Ceremony on December 18, 2014:

Layla Aboufares, Tom Bolyard,  Lukas Bryant, Marvin Du, Milgo Essa, Mehnaz Grewal, Sydney Kane, Vi Le, Megha Maran, Dylan Narayan, Crystal Osayande, Isha Sama, Umair Siddique, Jason Tso, Katelyn Vo, Jackie Yu and Ronald Zhou.  [1/6]

Attention 7th graders: Are you an athlete, are you in the Band class before school, do you like to help teachers in their classrooms, are you concerned about the community and wish you could help it in some way, do you maintain high grades in school, do you want to join a club? Many of you probably answered “yes” to many of these questions.

So, I am here to tell you a little bit about the Royal J Honor Society!  The Royal J is the highest honor you can achieve here at Toby Johnson Middle School. You can earn the highest honor just by being you!  If you answered “yes” to many of the questions I just asked, then you’re already on your way to become a Royal J member—all you have to do is fill in some paper work and document your personal successes and our school will recognize your achievements in an exclusive ceremony that is held only twice per year.

To achieve the Royal J, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA, and must complete 16 hours in six of eight areas of your choice which include school service, class achievement, the arts, athletics, scholastic achievement, leadership, club participation, and community service.

If you’re interested in getting more information about Royal J, come to the orientation meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7th, at 8:00 in MG6 with Ms. Emison.  In order to join Royal J, you must first attend an orientation meeting.   Orientation meetings are held only once per term. [1/6]

Attention Jaguars, the next regular Royal J meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7th, in room MH8 with Ms. Rashid at 8:00 am.  Come pick up forms, ask questions, submit petitions, and check your files.  Remember, Royal J Members MUST attend and sign in at least one meeting per term in order to stay eligible for obtaining their Royal J Awards.  [1/6]

Our extended day classes are still in session. We have Math Support in the mornings, Academic Support Monday through Thursday afternoons, and Computer Science Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons.  If you’re interested in enrolling, please see Mrs. Bajar for a consent form.  [1/6 – 1/9]

Library News

Library Hours:  The library will only open from 7:30-7:45 Tuesday through Thursday to accommodate for our textbook schedule.  We will resume longer morning hours from 7:30-8:10 beginning Friday, January 9th.  Please remember you must show your current school ID in order to enter the library before school and during lunch hours on Mondays and Fridays. [1/6 – 1/9]

Textbook Information:  Don’t forget the 7-day Textbook Rule which holds you responsible for damages found after 7 days of receipt of your textbooks.  Once you receive your Term 3 textbooks & novels, double check them for any damages not already noted by library staff on the inside book cover.  If you do find additional damage, please bring the textbooks back to us within those first 7 days so we can document the damage. Any damages you do not report during that time frame become your responsibility.  Also, please cover your textbooks immediately and sign your name on the inside book cover of each textbook for your protection.  A how to cover your textbooks correctly video can be found on schoolloop on the Franklin Library page. [1/6 – 1/16]
